I’m so glad this week’s passion post was optional, because I just watched one of the two best films of my entire life this week and I cannot wait to tell everyone about them! The first, which many of you may have seen is called “50/50.”
This movie tells the story of two best friends, Adam and Kyle, that must face the troubling news that Adam (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) has cancer. The most interesting aspect of the movie was that you would initially expect a Seth Rogen film to be silly and nothing but a comedy, and don’t get me wrong it was pretty funny, but I have never been so affected and moved by a movie in my life- Even more so than My Sister’s Keeper – and that’s really saying something. The best part was that the film was a true story written by Seth Rogen, based upon a situation that happened in his own life with one of his own friends. It makes the movie that much more meaningful. (I never EVER cry during movies… and personally, I cried like an absolute baby during this one.)
Amazing movie number two…
This is by far one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Everyone knows Marilyn Monroe as she is one of the most iconic women in history, but not every know of the troubles she had within. Michelle Williams does a beautiful job of portraying the severely troubled, yet amazingly talented woman in the film My Week With Marilyn that tells the true story of a young man who got that chance to work on a set in a film that was casting Marilyn Monroe. He also had the fortune of catching her love as he fell madly in love with her in less than a week, and she breaks his heart as she most often does. The film tastefully lets the audience get to know Marilyn for who she was as a person and less for what she was a sex figure. Definitely a film that makes you think about what stardom can do to the average human being.
